January 9 marks National Apricot Day, and for our family, this day holds a very special place in our hearts. As a fourth-generation family farm operating since 1929, celebrating apricots isn’t just a holiday — it’s a celebration of our history, our hard work, and the community that has supported us for nearly a century.
Rooted in Family, Grown With Care
For four generations and over 95 years, the Rossi family has passed down a passion for sharing the Blenheim apricot. B & R Farms is a fourth-generation, family-operated business owned by Jim Rossi and his wife, Mari.
Our story began when Jim’s grandparents, Frank and Mary Rossi, purchased a plot of land in Hollister, California on July 4, 1929. What started as a modest orchard of prunes, walnuts, and just a few acres of apricots slowly evolved over the decades. Under the care of Jim’s parents, Emil and Elsie, the farm grew into an orchard of over 40 acres of Blenheim apricots.
Today, Jim and Mari have built a Blenheim apricot enterprise their founders would be incredibly proud of. Orchard management and all dried apricot processing — including grading, sorting, packaging, and cool storage — is done right here by our family and dedicated staff at our Hollister facility.
From dried Blenheim apricots to apricot preserves, spreads, chocolates, and more, everything we produce reflects generations of knowledge and time‑tested family recipes. When it comes to caring for Blenheim apricots, the Rossi family roots run deep — and continue to grow.
